Use the cold-outreach skill. I freelance as a bookkeeper for small dental clinics in Ontario, Canada, 3 to 10 staff. I charge 450 CAD a month and I have one reference client (a 4-chair clinic in Ottawa where I cut month-end close from 12 days to 3). Write me a first cold email, two follow-ups and a LinkedIn connection note for clinic owners. Do not invent facts about specific clinics; leave placeholders. Print everything in your reply, do not save files.
Skill: cold-outreach

Here's the full sequence. I followed the skill's framework, but I'm printing everything here and saving no files, as you asked.

Email 1: Day 0 (Tue-Thu, 8-10 AM)

Subject: Month-end at [Clinic Name]

Hi [Dr./First Name],

[One specific observation, e.g. "I saw [Clinic Name] has been serving [Town] since [year]" or "I saw you added [new service/associate]"].

Most small clinic owners I talk to wait over a week after month-end to see their numbers. For a 4-chair clinic in Ottawa, I cut that close from 12 days to 3. That meant faster answers on overhead, lab fees and collections.

I'm a bookkeeper who works only with small Ontario dental clinics. Would a quick look at how I did it be useful?

(About 95 words. The pain is the delay in seeing numbers, the proof is your one real result, and the ask is soft. The price is left out on purpose.)

Follow-up 1: Day 4-5 (value add)

Subject: Re: Month-end at [Clinic Name]

Hi [First Name],

One thing that cut the most time at the Ottawa clinic: [one tactic you actually used, e.g. "reconciling insurance and patient payments weekly instead of once a month"]. You can do this without hiring anyone.

If you'd rather hand it off, I do it for a flat 450 CAD/month. I'm happy to send a one-page summary of what the 12-to-3-day change involved.

Want me to send it?

(Fill in the tactic with something true from that engagement. If you mention the price, keep it this light. You can also drop it and let them ask.)

Follow-up 2: Day 12-14 (breakup)

Subject: Closing the loop

Hi [First Name],

I've written a couple of times about getting month-end numbers faster at [Clinic Name]. Totally fine if the timing's off.

If bookkeeping becomes a headache down the road, you're welcome to reach out. Otherwise I'll stop filling your inbox.

LinkedIn connection note

(Send around Day 2, between emails 1 and 2. This is 247 characters.)

Hi [First Name], I'm a bookkeeper working with small dental clinics in Ontario. I recently helped a 4-chair Ottawa clinic close its books in 3 days instead of 12. Thought it'd be good to connect with fellow [city/region] practice owners.

Notes before you send

  • Placeholders: The only real facts are yours: the 4-chair Ottawa clinic, 12 to 3 days, 450 CAD/month and your specialty. Only add a clinic-specific opener that you verified on their website or Google listing.
  • Reference client: Check that the client is fine with being described as "a 4-chair clinic in Ottawa". If you name them or say how they cut the time, ask first.
  • Canadian law: The skill's checklist cites CAN-SPAM, but you're under CASL. You can email a business address without prior consent only if it's publicly listed with no "no unsolicited email" notice and your message relates to their role. Every email needs your name, mailing address and a working unsubscribe.
  • Targeting: Send in small batches of about 20-50 clinics, each with a real personal opener. That reply rate is better than a mass blast.
  • Diagnosing results: Low opens mean the subject line needs work. Opens with no replies mean the message or the ask needs work.

Test run for a freelance bookkeeper writing to dental clinics in Ontario. The model wrote one first email, two follow-ups and a LinkedIn note with placeholders and no invented facts. It also pointed out that the Skill's compliance checklist cites the US CAN-SPAM Act while the user is in Canada; its remarks on Canadian anti-spam law are the model's own and were not checked, so this is not legal advice.
